Winter Wonderful Savings – Goodwill Industries of San Diego County

If you know me, then you know I don’t like paying full (even sale) price for anything. Winter sports gear is no exception. Why would I pay hundreds of dollars for an outfit I’m going to wear a few times during the season? With the kids, I know whatever I buy this year won’t fit next year. Heck, the stuff I buy for myself probably won’t fit next year (hopefully, it will be too big 🙂 ).

This year my family went to Brian Head, Utah for a ski trip. I had 15 people to outfit, and I did 90% of that outfitting at Goodwill. No, the outfits didn’t match perfectly, but matching outfits just scream “tourist” anyway, right? We started shopping in October, and by the time we left for our trip, we had spent less than $500.00 on ski pants, jackets, boots, gloves, thermals, and even a couple really cool Klondike hats. That’s an average of just $33.00 per person! Wow, I didn’t even realize how well we did, until I wrote this blog :D. We had a great time. We stayed warm and dry. All the money we saved made it possible for us to ski additional days, and try out all the extra fun activities like tubing and snowmobiling. It doesn’t get any better than that.
